FlipVideo Ideas on Vimeo

A FlipVideo is a simple camcoder for digital video creation. They connect to a computer by a flip-out USB connection. The FlipVideos also come equipped with internal software for editing and uploading to video-sharing sites.

Each campus TLTC has two FlipVideos for faculty check-out. Here is a quick video of some ideas for using FlipVideos in the classroom.

Free text to Speech with Zamzar

Zamzar

Zamzar is a great free Web 2.0 tool for converting those files that students, or other colleagues, send you that you just can’t open, like word perfect. You upload your file and Zamzar emails you a link with the converted file.

The latest upgrade lets you convert text to speech. How cool.

Using the free version puts you in a queue so it may take some time and be careful your file might get caught in OCC’s spam. Be sure to check your quarantine summary.

Google Docs

One new feature bundled with the new OCC student emails that you and your students can use is Google Docs. You can create documents, spreadsheets and presentations and then collaborate with each other right inside a web browser. As long as you can connect to the Internet, you can access your documents.

Here is a quick video from Common Craft explaining Google Docs. One big difference..You and your students don’t need to create a Google Docs account. You will have one automatically when you create your OCC email account. For more info on Google email, Google apps (docs, spreadsheets, and presentations) contact your local instructional tech in the TLTCs or email tltc@oaklandcc.edu
